ABOUT OUR FOOD BANK
The Food Bank Ministry was founded in 1993 under the leadership of Deaconness Carrie M. Hawkins, who became its Executive Director, and Deacon Calvin Hawkins, Mother Grace Kersey, Mother Dorothy Pollitt, Sister Yvonne Taborn and Sister Cora Thomas.
It was established as a community outreach to provide free emergency food assistance to area residents. It distributes basic staples on the third and fourth Saturday every month in accordance with state and federal eligibility guidelines. Due to overwhelming need, the Food pantry operations were expanded and it remains open year-round.
The Food Bank is staffed by volunteers from the church and the community. In addition to food, the pantry provides donated clothing and other items to meet the physical and spiritual needs of clients.
